Fourteen years. That’s how long Sydney loved us, protected us, followed us, and filled our home with a love we never knew was possible. Losing her to seizures shattered our hearts. She was our very first family dog, and she changed everything.
We actually got Sydney for our son Logan when he was in kindergarten because, honestly, he was a little hard waking up when it came time for school. He said if we got him a puppy he would do better. Well he did. Honestly, from the moment Sydney came into our lives, everything changed. Mornings became calmer, happier, and full of routine. From that day on, Logan never gave us a problem. She had a quiet way of bringing balance and peace into our home.
I was raised with cats and never considered myself a “dog person,” but Sydney chose me as one of her person's. She became my shadow, my comfort, and my constant. On the hardest of days, she was there without being asked. Even though she was never therapy-trained on paper, she was a therapy dog in every way that mattered. She healed all of us in ways she’ll never know.
Unfortunately, Sydney crossed the Rainbow Bridge on October 15, 2025, at 9:50 PM, but she didn’t take our love with her. She left it here, woven into our hearts, our memories, and every quiet moment where we still feel her presence. She will always have a place in our family that can never be replaced.

Meanwhile, as our hearts slowly learn how to breathe again, we have found room to love once more, not to replace her, but to honor her. Please welcome Levi Rhea Cripps He is an 8-week-old standard poodle, born in Indiana. He is already showing us why this breed is so special. From watching the videos our breeder shared, reviewing his Volhard temperament testing, and learning his personality, it’s clear he is incredibly intelligent, observant, and eager to learn. Standard poodles are known for their loyalty, emotional sensitivity, and exceptional intelligence, and Mr. Levi is already living up to that reputation with his curiosity, calm confidence, and sweet connection to people.
We believe Sydney will watch over Levi from the Rainbow Bridge, guiding him to us and helping shape the dog he’s meant to be. A new chapter begins, built on the love she taught us, the lessons she left behind, and the love we will always carry. Welcome to your new home baby Levi. I cant say enough good things about the experience we had with Sugar & Spice Homestead. From the moment we inquired about our pup, it was clear that she is a passionate and dedicated breeder. The puppies are absoluetly stunning, beautiful, fluffy and clearly well taken cared for. You can tell they are raised in a loving enviroment, and their health and happiness is a top priority.
Paulena's guidance throughout the entire process was invaluable. She answered all our questions and was incredibly supportive as we prepared to bring our new puppy home. Her tips for a smooth transition were a lifesaver, and it made everything so much easier for both us and our new family member. We had an amazing experience with Paulena at Sugar & Spice Homestead. We brought home our standard poodle puppy at 8 weeks old, and we couldn’t be happier. All of her puppies were so amazing it was a genuinely hard choice for us to pick one, but we chose our sweet little Colette. From day one, it was clear how much time, love, and dedication Paulena puts into raising her puppies. Our Colette already had a great foundation of home training, which made the transition so much smoother.
Our poodle is healthy, well-balanced, and has the sweetest, most even temperament. You can truly tell these puppies are raised with intention, care, and lots of hands-on attention. Paulina goes above and beyond, and it shows in every way.
We are beyond happy with our puppy and are already considering getting another one from her in the future. Not only did we find an outstanding breeder, but we also feel like we’ve made a new friend. We highly recommend Sugar & Spice Homestead to anyone looking for an exceptional standard poodle.
